The West of England Combined Authority (WECA) and Travel West have informed us of upcoming bus timetable changes in the area. The changes bring some good news as new routes are being introduced to partially cover the loss of the Y1 service that used to route via the Birds Estate.

From end of August, the Birds Estate will have two bus services:

  • The 620, serving Rodford Way, Heron Way and then goes to Yate Town Centre and Chipping Sodbury High St (plus Chipping Sodbury School at the start and end of the school day)
  • The 525, an hourly service which will serve Rodford Way, Heron Way and the go to Yate Town Centre, and around North Yate – giving people access to the other side of town.

This gives people in The Birds an hourly service to the Town Centre, three buses a day direct to Chipping Sodbury (and others if they change at the Yate Bus Station).

It does mean that people wanting to go further afield (e.g. Bristol) will still need to change to the Y1 or Y2 at Yate Bus Station.

The details of the bus services can be found on the Travel West website at the following link: travelWEST.info/ServiceChanges

Timetables for the new services can be found below (both open as PDFs in new windows):
