Dodington Parish Council has started work to build a new exercise path in Yate.

It will be free to use and open to everyone – perfect for running, walking, or just getting some fresh air.

After a fair and thorough tender process, the Parish Council appointed contractor MF Freeman to build the path.

The path will provide an additional feature to the playing fields, which already includes football pitches, a multi-use games area and memorial garden. It is hoped that the new path, which will be ready by early Autumn, will also make the fields easier to get around in all weather conditions.

The Parish Council successfully applied for the funding of £152,146 to pay for the new path, which is being distributed by South Gloucestershire Council following the development on the site of the former Rodford Way Primary School.

Councillor Jayne Stansfield, lead partner member responsible for communities and local place at South Gloucestershire Council, said: “I’m delighted that South Gloucestershire Council was able to secure this developer funding. The new exercise path will complement the existing facilities, providing a more accessible outdoor space to help people get active and keep fit.”
