Memorial Garden

The Parish Council own and maintain QEII Playing Fields in Yate (formally Kelston Playing Fields). Due to the closure of Wapley Court Care Home in 2011 and subsequent demolition, the Parish Council received monies to develop a memorial garden at this open space.  The garden was completed in Spring 2019 and provides a peaceful area for visitors to sit and reflect amongst the new  trees and plants growing there.

The garden features a bench to commemorate soldiers and personnel that lost their lives and were injured during World War One.  This has been funded by South Gloucestershire Council Member Awarded Funding.

Memorials

The Parish Council can offer placement of a memorial for a loved one at the garden.  You may arrange to purchase a plaque to be attached to a brick, which will then be placed in the Memorial Garden to form a path edge.  The brick will be set in concrete in the ground.  The plaque’s inscription must be approved by the Parish Council and the plaque should be purchased by those wishing to place the memorial.  The Parish Council will purchase the brick and will fix the plaque on to the brick before setting it into the ground.  Please see below for more details:
