What Dodington PC is doing to celebrate this special year

  • We’re funding time capsules for our local schools!  The Parish Council is partnering with Raysfield, Wellesley, Culverhill and Abbotswood Schools to bury time capsules in Dodington’s public open spaces.
  • Under-18s Poetry and Pictures Competition – with the theme of “Celebration”!  Please send entries by 31st July to the Parish Council either by email, post or by dropping into the office on Finch Road.  Entries will be judged by our Councillors and a special guest judge in five categories (Key Stages 1 – 5) and prizes will be presented to the winners and their poetry or art displayed.
  • A Platinum Jubilee Trail will be launched at Wapley Bushes Nature Reserve.  We are also looking to plant trees in Wapley and our other open spaces as part of The Queen’s “Green Canopy”.
  • We are also launching a “Best Garden in Dodington” competition.  Entries will be judged in three categories – Best Back Garden, Best Front Garden and Best Creative Use of Space.  If you would like to nominate a garden, please contact the Parish Council by the end of June (judging will be in July).

Enjoy our public open spaces on the day of the Jubilee Big Lunch (5th June).  Why not take a picnic to Wapley common, QE2 Playing Fields or Lilliput Park?

Entries for the poetry and pictures competition or best garden competition can be sent to:
