Over 100 people came together on Tuesday 9th December, to celebrate Christmas with carols, mince pies and community spirit.

A free event for local residents, the concert is a highlight of the yearly calendar, with 2025 being no different.

The musical line up included regular favourites such as Hark the Herald and Let It Snow, interspersed with some lesser-known arrangements and historical pieces based on traditional songs.

The concert is a joint effort between Dodington Parish Council, and Dodington Parish Band, who recognise the importance of the evening for local people. Cllr Adrian Hutton, Chair of Dodington Parish Council, explained that: “bringing the community together helps promote a sense of belonging and pride in the local area, reduces isolation, and showcases some of the very special talent that we have in our parish. A big thank you to the band and to everybody who took the time to join us for this amazing event”.

Amongst the talent on display, young performers were involved, with Musical Director, Peter Cornford explaining that “the Band is always keen for young players to join in order to ensure that the longstanding British brass banding tradition is passed on to the next generation. We will
always encourage our youngsters to play a full part in the concerts we give.”

This year, the band were collecting funds for the Alzheimer’s Society, who will receive a donation from the event.
