Committee & Meeting Structure

There are three committees which meet on roughly a six weekly basis. Each committee’s responsibilities are listed below:

PLANNING COMMITTEE

Planning applications, planning issues, urban open spaces, South Ward open spaces, rural footpaths and transport issues

Members of the Planning Committee are Councillors Mrs Christine Howard (Chairman of Committee) John Davis, Mrs Gloria Stephen, Mrs Kay Crowe, June Kent, Mrs Mandy Sainsbury, Paul Hulbert and Cliff Phelps

COMMUNITY, LEISURE AND ENVIRONMENT COMMITTEE

Play areas at Lilliput Park, Goldcrest Park and Woodchester Park, Kelston Close playing fields and Multi Use Games Area, Lilliput park, Wapley Nature Reserve, Wapley Common and picnic area, allotments, Summer playschemes and youth and community activities

Members of the Community, Leisure and Environment Committee are Councillors Paul Hulbert (Chairman of Committee), John Davis, Mrs Gloria Stephen, Mrs Kay Crowe, June Kent, Mrs Mandy Sainsbury, Cliff Phelps, Christine Howard and Mike Gregory

FINANCE COMMITTEE

Parish Hall management, salaries and administration, office expenses, Chairman’s allowance, grants and donations and election expenses

Members of the Community, Leisure and Environment Committee are Councillors Mrs Gloria Stephen (Chairman of Committee), Mrs Linda Boon, Mrs Kay Crowe, June Kent, Mrs Mandy Sainsbury, Paul Hulbert and Cliff Phelps

After each cycle of committee meetings a Full Council meeting is held and details of these are posted on our noticeboards at the Parish Hall, St Peter’s Church at Wapley and Codrington Baptist Church.

Additionally in May each year an Annual Meeting of the Council is held which is similar to an AGM where the Chairman and other officers are elected. A separate Annual Parish Meeting, to which all Parishioners are invited is held at the end of May.
